The United Arab Emirates and especially Dubai has changed much in the past twenty years. I remember during my own travels visiting Dubai in the mid 1980s is nothing like the Dubai of today. I can remember a relatively small place where it was easy to manipulate traffic and not ever worry about traffic jams. Now, the Dubai of today more closely resembles downtown Manhattan during rush hour with its long line of traffic and the tall skyscrapers lining each side of Sheik Zayed road. However, the multicultural city of Dubai does remain a popular destination for expatriates who wish to experience the flavor of the Middle East without sacrificing Western amenities and lifestyle.
